For most of our history, hosting with FatLab was part of the deal. If you wanted us to support your WordPress site, your site lived on our servers. That kept things simple on our end, but it turned away good people who had a perfectly good reason to stay where they were. So we changed it.

Here is where we have landed. You do not have to host with us to have us support your site. If you are on a quality managed host and you would rather stay, we can maintain, support, and develop your site right where it is. The monthly plan price is the same either way.

Why we usually suggest moving anyway

We will be upfront that we still recommend moving to us in most cases, and it is worth explaining why, because the reasons are about your experience, not our convenience.

One team owns the whole stack. When something goes wrong, there is no finger pointing between your host and your developer. We are both, so the problem is ours to solve.

Nothing waits on a third party. We are not opening a ticket with someone else's support line and waiting on a callback while your site is down.

The infrastructure flexes to fit your site. If your traffic grows or a campaign spikes, we adjust the setup to handle it. You do not get pushed into a bigger plan or throttled for going over a visit count.

And because we are in your site every week, our developers already know it when you need something built or fixed.

Most clients who come to us on another host move over eventually, once they see there is no catch and no added cost. Plenty do not, and that is genuinely fine.

The one thing we cannot flex on

Quality. When we put our name on your site's uptime and security response, we have to be able to work at the level where real fixes happen: real SSH access, WP-CLI, and a host that is stable and does not fight us at every step. Managed hosts like WP Engine, Kinsta, and Pressable clear that bar comfortably, and we are glad to support sites on any of them. SiteGround works too, on its higher plans.

Where we draw the line is entry-level shared hosting. We have made the decision not to take on direct support responsibility for sites on budget hosts like GoDaddy or Bluehost. The reason is practical: those environments do not reliably give us the access and stability our support depends on, and we will not promise a level of service that the underlying host will not let us deliver. If your site is on one of them and you want to work with us, we will be straight with you. The honest path is to move, and we will make that easy and free. If a host will not give us what we need to do the job right, we would rather help you off it than sign up for something we cannot stand behind.

When staying put is the right answer

We also know that where your site lives is not always your decision to make. An IT department has a policy. A board signed a contract. Sometimes an organization just does not want the disruption of a migration, even though we have gotten very good at making them painless. Those are all fair reasons. If you are on a third-party host that meets our standard, we will support you there with the same team and the same price, no asterisks.

If you are weighing this for your own site, tell us where you are hosted and what you need, and we will tell you honestly whether we can support you there, or whether moving is the better move for you.
