Your developer says they updated your site, but you're not seeing the changes. They insist the updates are live, but your browser is still showing the old version.
Don't panic—this is a common issue caused by browser caching. Your browser stores copies of web pages, images, and files locally to speed up loading times. Sometimes these cached files prevent you from seeing the latest updates.
A simple refresh (clicking the reload button) doesn't always work because it may still use cached files. What you need is a "hard refresh" that forces your browser to download fresh copies of everything.
Browser Cache Clearing: Quick Reference
Use these keyboard shortcuts while on the page that's not showing updates:
Windows/PC (all browsers)
Ctrl + F5
Hold down the Ctrl key and press F5. This forces a complete page reload with fresh files.
Mac - Chrome, Firefox, Edge
Command + Shift + R
Hold down Command and Shift, then press R.
Mac - Safari
Command + Option + R
For Safari, you can also try Command + R first. If that doesn't work, use the menu: History > Clear History (but be aware this clears your entire browsing history).
Alternative Method (All Browsers)
Hard Refresh Menu Option
- Right-click the refresh button in your browser
- Select "Hard Reload" or "Empty Cache and Hard Reload"
Still Not Seeing Updates?
If browser cache clearing doesn't solve the problem, it might be server-side caching.
For FatLab hosting clients: Your site includes smart caching that automatically clears when you make updates. If you're still having issues, you can manually clear the website cache through your WordPress dashboard using the Breeze plugin.
